Radiologic Technology

While I was a student in the Jackson State Community College Radiologic Technology program, my fiancée was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. My second year in the program was difficult, but the old adage ‘It takes a village’ is true. I had wonderful professors, clinical instructors, classmates, and my family who would tell me I could make it through all the testing and clinical hours. I graduated not just on my own willpower, but because I had a wonderful support system behind me. I now work in an outpatient clinic at Vanderbilt in the x-ray department and am looking forward to continuing my education in Radiation Therapy soon. – Dakota Coplin, ’21

Engineering Systems Technology

I started the Engineering Systems AMT program at Jackson State Community College in 2018 and graduated in 2020. It was an amazing and fulfilling opportunity. Maintenance is the primary focus of the program, which includes robotics, hydraulics, and mechanics. I also had dedicated classes about professionalism, leadership, and teamwork. Additionally, I was placed to work at Toyota Motor Manufacturing of Tennessee to work and learn. We went to school two days and worked three days a week. I made long lasting friendships as everyone in the program took the same classes and studied together. I now work at Toyota full time doing Equipment Maintenance. – James Box, ’20

Medical Laboratory Technician

As a current student in the Medical Laboratory Technician program, I have thoroughly enjoyed the program and am looking forward to hands on experience through clinicals starting in August. The MLT is a great program that can offer many job opportunities upon graduation. It is a growing field and, like most healthcare jobs, is currently in high demand. I have enjoyed my time here at Jackson State Community College and in the MLT program and I have felt welcome from day one. I have had nothing but great experiences here at JSCC, would recommend the program to anyone, and suggest that anyone curious about the program to come and speak with the program director! – Grant Holland
